Amber with Insects- Spider #3
Age: Paleocene (59 MYA)
This amber is from a source located south of the Cerrejon Coal mines in Colombia. This amber is much harder than the copal for which Colombia is known. This large piece measures 3" at the longest by 2" at the widest, and is 5/8" at thickest point. This piece contains a nice large spider, but it is harder to see due to internal fracturing and is more visible from certain angles. The spider is approximately 5/8" long (front to back legs). There are a lot of really small gnats present. Other insects include a weevil and a small roach(?). See pictures for details and email with any questions. Open pictures in a new window for best results. I will include a black floating frame with this piece for displaying. Piece has been tumbled and polished.
