Pteranodon Wing Bones #3
This piece consists of several partial Pteranodon wing bones in the natural matrix. The matrix has been saturated with stabilizer but is still a fragile piece at about half an inch at the thickest. I believe these are the 1st and 2nd phalanx and possibly part of the 4th. The small broken bones do not appear to be from the claws as there are no knuckles so I think it may be the 4th phalanx wrapped back around and broken. The bottom bone (Phalanx 1) measures 8.5" and the top measures 7.75". Matrix measures 11 x 6 inches. We collected this piece in the Niobrara Chalk (Cretaceous) of western Kansas.
